2020 - 2021

PhD, International Relations
University of St Andrews

I work under the supervision of Dr. Roxani Krystalli and Dr. Rahul Rao in the School of International Relations, to explore care in Third World protests.

My research documents care in two of the largest protests in global history: the movement against the Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Indian Citizens, and the National Population Register (the CAA-NRC-NPR) and the Farmers’ Protests in India, led by marginalized religious, ethnic, and gender communities across the country.

The project has three aims:
(a) it examines how participants teach, learn, and develop formal and informal modes of care in protest spaces;
(b) it performs memory work by archiving these acts of care; and
(c) it traces the consequences of care practices for theories and practices of human security.

MPhil, International Peace Studies

Here, I was awarded the James Haire Prize for Best Dissertation for my project 'Religion, Resistance, and Reform in Non-Violent Social Movements in India: Communal Counter-Narratives in the Farmers’ and the CAA-NRC-NPR Protests', completed under the supervision of Dr. Jude Lal Fernando.
